Genesis 8: God Sings

Genesis 8:22.

“As long as the earth endures,

seed time and harvest, cold and heat,

summer and winter, day and night

shall not cease.”

This is God’s hymn—sung after the great flood and preparatory to placing his bow in the sky. God sings of the rhythm of life. It’s a rhythm that he promises to never interrupt. It’s something we can count on. It’s something to assure us that when we feel overwhelmed and at our wit’s end, there will be tomorrow. A tomorrow of harvest and warmth and light. When God sings we should listen and sing along as well.                    —The Houston Pilgrim
