“Surely the Lord is in this place—and I did not know it!”
Jacob lifts his head from the stone pillow vividly recalling his dream of angels ascending and descending on a heavenly ladder while God renews his covenant. In an instant he knows he’s resting on sacred ground. With his stone pillow and oil, he consecrates the place to the glory of God.
How about you? Have you ever found yourself on sacred ground but didn’t know it? Sacred ground can be found anywhere since God is everywhere. It might be at home, or by a pond or on a mountain top. It might be in a homely place like a strip center chapel or someplace grand like the Lincoln Memorial. It can be an enduring place or a place in which you sense the holy for only a moment. Where are your places? Have you consecrated them yet? —The Houston Pilgrim
